Double Header Down Under
G'day Mates! Time for a little Aussie Double Header submission. What with the launch of Australia the movie, and with the upcoming dispatch of CDC founders Scott and Karen down under to attend the numptuals if CDC member your's truly. Without further adieu...
The first track I'm going to nominate is by Sydney based Aussie Folk/Pop outfit Angus & Julia Stone. The track I'm putting forward is from their 2006 release Chocolates & Cigarettes called Paper Aeroplane.
And for the second half of this double bill, I'd like to put forward a track off this year's release from the Melbourne based Aussie Hip-Hop outfit Bliss n Eso. The track, Eye of the Storm, is off the album Flying Colours which was released this year, and is one of the nominees for the Triple J album of the year.
So - the connection? Besides the Terra Australis that is... Well, if you've listened, you've guessed it! Bliss n Eso have heavily sampled Paper Aeroplane in Eye of the Storm, and to pretty good effect I'd say.
