Picture it, Montreal 1994…

… a high school girl attends her first concert, where she experiences the power pop of Sloan. Fast forward to 2008, and she's still bopping along to "Underwhelmed," the instant classic from 1992's Smeared. She's also enjoying the band's 9th studio album, Parallel Play, and a catchy little number called "The Other Side." (her choice for CDC submission - but please check out underwhelmed)

"Sloan is probably the best band you've never heard of. Part of that has to do with the fact that they're Canadian, part of it stems from the quartet's refusal to have a front man, and most of it is the result of their consistent refusal to be defined by genre." – popmatters.com
Popmatters may be overstating things a bit, but I'm still digging the Sloan, and I hope you do too!
